2. Pugs - After a popular series of TV commercials by Vodafone, this breed became really popular among dog owners. Pugs are usually chosen by people who have homes that are small and compact, a common feature in urban India. 
3. German Shepherd - German Shepherds are one of the most easily available breeds in the country. They are trained as security dogs due to their ferocious look. They are also known as Alsatians. German Shepherds were once herding dogs. As a result, they are very alert and have a great sense of smell. 
4. Indies - Indies are the most commonly found dogs in India. “Indies'' is an umbrella term used for various indegenous breeds found in the country. The most common features among these dogs are their long snouts, lean physique and wolf-like characteristics. They are known for being hardy, and have a strong survival instinct. 
5. Indian Spitz - Indian Spitz dogs tend to look like Pomeranians. However, they are in fact smaller in size. Unlike Pomeranians, Indian Spitzes are accustomed to the Indian climate.
