According to an article by DNA, the average cost of raising a thoroughbred dog can range anywhere between Rs.19,000- Rs. 22,000 a month. This breakup includes a dog walker, grooming costs, tick control medication, shampoo, chew sticks, health tonics, food, treats and health checkups.

Apart from these expenditures, dogs would need to get vaccinated annually, the cost of which is Rs. 3000. One time expenditures include a leash, a trainer, food bowls, water bowls, a bed, collars, neutering, a cone, and a dog house. The approximate cost of this would be Rs. 43,000 to Rs. 45,000.
